New Year’s update

The Club’s E-Board met virtually on January 21 and Bruce MacDonald Jr took notes while Craige was busy at another virtual meeting. There’s light at the end of the tunnel with the promise of the vaccinations being far enough along that we might be able to resume meetings. The opening today of a mass vaccination center at Ferncroft in Danvers indicates that the rollout is gathering speed. Obviously we won’t order the steaks or warm up the grill until there’s an all-clear for places like the Legion to open up again. But it looks more promising than it has for a long time.
With that prospect in mind the Board is discussing putting the 2021 scholarship raffle back to a September date. The same holds for the rescheduled date for the anniversary party in July on Beauport Cruiselines. Jeff Gilson is following that and will confirm dates following the all-clear signal from the State of Massachusetts. The Chocolate Fountain is still on hold.
The Golf Committee chaired by Bruce Heisey, who’s recovering from the COVID, is targeting a late September or early October date.
In terms of new business, the Board will be sending out this year’s dues notices as planned in March.
The annual election of Club officers that normally would have happened at the January annual meeting for business has been put on hold and we’ll keep the same slate of officers. It’s a big job but they’re willing to tough it out.
Please take care of yourselves and check in with people you haven’t seen for a long time.
