Jimmy Hatcher Scholarhip Fund

The Jimmy Hatcher Scholarship Fund raffle – named after its strongest supporter – is held each year at the May meeting. Since its inception in 1960, the Fund has awarded 274 scholarships totaling more than $175,000. In 2013 it awarded nine scholarships for a total of $1,350 each.

Funding for the scholarships comes from the annual sale of over $7,000 of raffle chances with prizes contributed by local businesses and individuals and with proceeds generated from the Club’s Annual Golf Tournament. The Executive Board thanks those businesses and the members who continue to sell tickets in the wider community.

These scholarships are available to any graduating senior who is going on to college. In order to be considered, an application must be filled out for review by the Scholarship Committee. Manchester-Essex Regional High School students are covered under the school’s general scholarship application, while those who attend other schools must submit one to the Club directly by contacting the current Vice President or by requesting one by sending a letter addressed to him at PO Box 364, Manchester by-the-Sea Ma 01944.
