The Manchester Club held its annual Christmas Dinner, Food Drive, Christmas raffle and a special visit from Santa Claus last Thursday evening, at the American Legion Hall. A large group of guests and members were in attendance.
Everyone there was treated to a delicious dinner of Roast beef, fresh green beans with crispy onions, mashed potatoes, rolls and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. All served under the direction of Past President Stan Koch and John Herrick Jr. with the help of a great crew, doing the job as always.
After dinner President Bruce Heisey, called the meeting together, leading all present, in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. After a brief visit to the Land of Moe and Curley with President Heisey, the business meeting was dispensed with by acclamation, all were in favor with an unanimous vote.
As silence grew over the hall, Santa Claus arrived with a big HO HO and accepted the donations of food and money for the needy, both going to he local churches and the Open Door food pantry. Santa thanked all for the generous donations. Santa’s next order of business along with the President, was the drawing of the raffle prizes. Some of the proceeds collected were for the 115th birthday gala to be held in 2020.
Santa then mounted his sleigh, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New year.
