The Manchester Club met on September 20th at the American Legion hall. A large crowd of members and guests were present and were treated to a great meal of Prime rib, baked potato, corn on the cob, and a delicious blueberry pie topped with ice cream for dessert. The kitchen crew lead by Russ Brown and Todd Crane did a great job.
After dinner was finished, VP Bruce Heisey, called the club’s meeting to order, as President Kirker was on vacation. Bruce led all present in the salute to the flag and requested a moment of silence for the passing of club member, Peter Foster. He then talked briefly about the Club’s annual “Dick Lysiak” golf outing this year, being another great success. He then thanked all the sponsers and all who helped out.
VP Heisey then requested Secretary’ s McCoy’s report, who mentioned the great success of the James Hatcher raffle that was held last May and all monies going the students that were furthering their education. He also thanked all of the members in the selling of the tickets. McCoy’s report was brief and accepted as read. Next was Treasurer Scott’s report which was read and also accepted.
With no further business, VP Heisey introduced the speaker for the evening, Bill Brotheron, editor of the North Shore Golf Magazine which is published by the Essex Media Group in Lynn. Bill was also accompanied by Dave Colt, Photographer for the magazine and who grew up in the area. The North Shore Golf magazine is published in the spring and fall giving leading people great information on all pubic and private courses on the North Shore listing all tournaments and winners of both men and women golfers. Bill’s talk was very interesting and was followed by a question and answer session. He was also given a Certificate of Appreciation.
A cash door prize was won by Ron Randlett. See you all next month!!
